NASA plans two lunar landings in one week
NASA is set to mark two lunar landings within a week, following the first private Moon landing in February. Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost lander will attempt to land on March 3, while Intuitive Machines' Athena lander is scheduled for March 6. Blue Ghost, which launched in January, carries ten instruments and aims to operate for a lunar day. It will capture high-definition images of lunar events, including a total eclipse and a lunar sunset. Athena, which launched on February 28, features improvements over its predecessor and includes a unique hopping drone for exploring underground lava passages. These missions are part of NASA's effort to make private lunar landings routine through its Commercial Lunar Payload Services program.
