NASA captures image of Blue Ghost lander on Moon
NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter captured an image of Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost lander on the Moon. The lander touched down in Mare Crisium after a 45-day journey, marking a significant achievement for commercial lunar exploration. The photo, taken on March 2, 2025, shows the lander as a tiny pixel in the image. The Blue Ghost is located in the center, casting a shadow, while the base of a lunar mountain is visible in the corner. Since landing, Blue Ghost has started deploying its payloads and sampling lunar regolith. The mission, called Ghost Riders in the Sky, will last two weeks, focusing on analyzing the Moon's surface.
