Morelia loses water due to illegal connections

Approximately 30% of active water connections in Morelia, Mexico, are illegal, causing significant water loss, according to the city's water operator. The director of the OOAPAS, Adolfo Fito Torres Ramírez, stated that these clandestine connections are used in both homes and businesses, affecting both potable water and drainage systems. The city is working with the federal government to address the issue. The city is also working to strengthen local legal tools and encourages citizens to report illegal connections. The OOAPAS is also finishing construction of the Acuaférico, which will improve water service.
