Modi and Trump to discuss defense purchases including Stryker vehicles and P-8 aircraft
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet US President Donald Trump to discuss defense purchases, including Stryker infantry combat vehicles and P-8 maritime patrol aircraft. This meeting marks their first since Trump’s return to the White House. Modi aims to finalize co-production agreements for the Stryker vehicles and General Electric F-414 engines for India's Tejas fighter jets. He will also seek quicker delivery of MQ-9B drones and MH-60R helicopters for the Indian Navy. The discussions come as the US encourages India to increase military purchases, shifting away from its traditional reliance on Russian arms. India has already contracted over $20 billion in US defense articles since 2008.
