Modi and Trump strengthen U.S.-India ties with defense deals and trade goals
During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to the U.S., he and President Donald Trump discussed strengthening strategic ties in defense, energy, technology, and trade. They agreed on a new ten-year defense partnership and the sale of F-35 fighter jets to India. The U.S. approved the extradition of Tahawwur Rana, wanted for his role in the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Additionally, both countries set a goal of $500 billion in annual bilateral trade by 2030, under the initiative called "Mission 500." Modi and Trump also agreed to enhance energy cooperation, allowing India to import more U.S. oil and gas. They discussed collaboration in technology and space, including partnerships with American companies like SpaceX.
