Mississippi's GDP per capita approaches Germany's as US states rival European economies

Mississippi, the poorest state in the US, is nearing Germany's GDP per capita, with a difference of just €1,500. Its GDP per capita is higher than that of Europe's top economies, except for Germany. In Q3 2024, Mississippi's GDP per capita was €49,780, while Germany's was €51,304. Other US states like West Virginia and Arkansas also surpassed the GDP per capita of major European economies.
