Mississippi students hospitalized after ingesting edibles
Several students at a middle school in Mississippi were taken to the hospital after eating edibles given to them by a classmate. This incident happened on Tuesday at Woolfolk Middle School. According to Yazoo Police Chief Terry Gann, six students were hospitalized during the school day. Two of them were released by Tuesday afternoon, and the other four were expected to go home soon. Authorities are investigating the situation and plan to charge the student who provided the edibles. Gann mentioned that they are looking into where the student got the edibles. The appearance of these marijuana products has changed over time. They can now look like popular candies, making them hard to identify. This is not the first such incident. Recently, 11 middle schoolers in Long Island also ended up in the hospital after consuming THC-laced gummies. In 2023, a boy in Staten Island was hospitalized after he ate edibles by mistake at a party. Edibles can cause THC poisoning, which leads to various symptoms like impaired movement, hallucinations, and vomiting. It is difficult to know the exact dosage in an edible without proper packaging.
