Mika plans budget electric vehicle launch to challenge Citroën Ami

thesun.co.uk

A new budget electric vehicle (EV) from the little-known brand Mika will launch for under £15,000. This microcar aims to compete with the Citroën Ami, offering better handling, an extra seat, and improved safety features. The Mika EV will be classified as an L7 quadricycle, with a top speed of 56 mph and a range of 80 to 160 miles, depending on battery size. A prototype is expected by 2025, supported by a £40,000 grant for feasibility studies. In comparison, the Citroën Ami, released in 2020, has a top speed of 27.9 mph and a maximum range of 48 miles. Another budget EV, the Nammi Box from Chinese manufacturer Dongfeng, has also entered the European market, priced at £19,615.
