Mexican football team joins Battle of the Prairies tournament in Saskatchewan
The Battle of the Prairies football tournament is hosting a team from Monterrey, Mexico, for the first time. This marks a significant expansion for the tournament, now in its fourth year, which includes 24 teams from across North America. Fuego head coach Mauricio Ordonez noted the growth of American football in Mexico, with over 10,000 youth players in Monterrey. Many Fuego players are experiencing Canada and Saskatchewan's football culture for the first time, expressing surprise at its popularity. The tournament features teams from various regions, including California and Texas. It serves as a scouting opportunity for college and junior football programs, with 300 recruit-eligible players participating.
