Merseyside's Mortons Dairies to close as family sells business to Bates Farms

Mortons Dairies, a family-run business in Merseyside, is closing after decades of service. The Harrison family is retiring and selling their doorstep milk delivery operations to Bates Farms & Dairy, which will acquire four sites. Eighty-seven staff members and eight franchisees will transition to Bates, securing their jobs. The deal, confirmed last week, is expected to complete this month after a successful consultation process. Bates Farms, established in 1939, aims to expand its customer base while maintaining Mortons' values of community and quality. Other depots from Mortons will be taken over by a different North West dairy.
