Mecca and Medina to host 10,000 Itikaf worshippers
Saudi Arabia has made special preparations for Ramadan 2025. The kingdom is set to accommodate 10,000 Muslim worshippers for the Itikaf ritual. This ritual involves Muslims spending time in mosques to focus on prayer and worship. Itikaf typically takes place during the last ten days of Ramadan, which is expected to end on March 29. Abdulrahman Al Sudais, head of the Religious Affairs in the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, emphasized the need for a peaceful environment for those observing Itikaf. To support the worshippers, the authorities are conducting awareness programs and will offer over 50 lessons on Itikaf rules. They will also hold Quranic sessions to help improve the participants' recitation of the Quran. The Grand Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet's Mosque in Medina will provide various services to ensure the comfort of the worshippers. This year, Itikaf is scheduled to start tonight, marking an increase in worshippers in these sacred places as the month of Ramadan comes to a close.
