Maya leads adoption of unified QR code system to simplify payments in the Philippines
Maya is leading the adoption of the new unified QR Ph system in the Philippines, which simplifies payments by replacing multiple QR codes with a single standard. This system allows consumers to pay at any participating store using various banking or e-wallet apps. The unified QR Ph, introduced by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, aims to streamline transactions for both consumers and businesses. It is now mandatory for merchants to display a standardized QR code, enhancing the payment experience and promoting financial inclusion. Maya has also leveraged QR Ph data to assess creditworthiness, enabling it to provide loans to over 1.4 million borrowers. This initiative supports financial access for underserved sectors, with cumulative loan disbursements reaching ₱67 billion by September 2024.
