Massachusetts governor criticizes ICE for poor communication

Governor Maura Healey of Massachusetts expressed frustration over a lack of communication from the federal government regarding the arrest of Tufts University student Rumeysa Ozturk. She stated she has received "really nothing" from ICE or Homeland Security about the circumstances of her arrest. Ozturk was arrested in Somerville by immigration authorities and is currently held in a detention facility in Louisiana. The government claims she supports Hamas, but has not provided evidence. Ozturk remains in good standing at Tufts. Healey is also concerned about ICE's recent statewide sweeps that resulted in over 300 arrests, with little information shared about those detained. She highlighted the risk of innocent people being caught up in these operations without any criminal background. President Donald Trump criticized judges who have opposed his immigration policies. In recent comments, he emphasized the need for swift actions against what he deems dangerous people in the U.S., while Judge Boasberg has ordered the government not to deport anyone under certain circumstances.
