Marcos declares July 27, 2025, a special non-working day for Iglesia ni Cristo anniversary
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared July 27, 2025, a Sunday, as a special non-working day in the Philippines. This decision allows members of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) to fully participate in their 111th founding anniversary. The proclamation, known as Proclamation 729, was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on October 30 and announced on October 31. The INC has historically supported Marcos in past elections. There are ongoing Senate bills proposing to recognize the INC's anniversary as either a special working holiday or a special non-working holiday. The INC is the third largest religious group in the Philippines, with over 2.8 million members.
