Manitoba workers will return after strike ends

Workers at two Métis and Michif child and family services agencies in Manitoba will resume work on Tuesday, ending a strike that began on March 25. The Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union reached an agreement for binding arbitration to resolve contract negotiations. The employees, represented by the MGEU, had been without a contract since January 2023. They sought a wage increase comparable to other civil service workers. The arbitration hearing is scheduled for April 22, with a ruling expected within four weeks. The union aims to achieve wage parity for its members through this process.
