Manish Tewari files motion in Lok Sabha to address treatment of deported Indians from US
Congress MP Manish Tewari has filed an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha to discuss the treatment of Indian citizens deported from the United States. He seeks clarity on the deportation process and the government's response. Tewari highlighted that around 24,000 undocumented Indians are currently detained in the U.S., with 487 facing final deportation orders. He expressed concern over reports of deportees being treated poorly, including being handcuffed. A recent incident involved a U.S. Air Force plane returning 104 Indian nationals to Amritsar. Opposition parties criticized the government for the manner of their deportation, claiming it was inhumane.
