Manipur security forces seized significant weapons cache
Security forces in Manipur conducted several operations from March 22 to 25, recovering a large cache of weapons and ammunition. The Indian Army and Assam Rifles, working with local police and paramilitary forces, targeted multiple districts, including Kakching, Imphal West, and Senapati. In Moltinchan, authorities found various weapons, including an improvised mortar and a modified carbine. In Henbung, they recovered four bolt-action rifles. Further operations in Imphal East uncovered additional firearms, such as a 2-inch mortar and a .32 mm pistol. On March 23, a significant haul included an INSAS rifle and a self-loading rifle. The following day, operations continued in the region, resulting in the seizure of a .22 rifle and several mortars in Imphal East. In Bishnupur, security forces collected an AK-47 and various other firearms. All items retrieved were submitted to Manipur Police for investigation. In addition to the main recoveries, extensive searches in vulnerable areas led to the discovery of more weapons, including hand grenades and bulletproof gear. Security forces aim to disrupt armed groups and ensure stability in Manipur.
