Man sentenced to life for strangling teenager in Ludhiana
A man has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a 17-year-old labourer. The convict is Mohammad Abdul, also known as Jaspreet Singh or Jassa, from Jagraon. He was found guilty of strangling the young victim in a case dating back to 2020. The additional sessions judge, Shiv Mohan Garg, imposed a rigorous life sentence on Abdul. In addition to the prison term, he was fined ₹100,000. The case began when Jagtar Singh, the employer of the victim, reported that his employee, Sanjay Kumar, went missing on May 23, 2020. On May 25, 2020, police found Kumar’s naked body near the fields of a former village leader. An investigation revealed that he had been strangled with a piece of wire. Initially, the police registered a murder case against unknown attackers. As the investigation progressed, Mohammad Abdul was arrested, and charges were updated. Throughout the trial, he claimed he was innocent and was wrongly accused. However, the court reviewed the evidence and arguments from both sides before reaching its decision.
