Man identified after fatal struggle with police outside San Diego bar
Gabriel Jesus Garza, 40, died on Saturday night after a struggle with police outside the Star Bar in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter. He was detained following a report of a disturbance and allegedly biting a security guard. Officers Jacob Phipps and Noah McLemore restrained Garza during the incident. After he became unresponsive, medics found he had no pulse and he later died at a hospital. An autopsy has been conducted, but the cause of death is still unknown. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, and the case will be reviewed by the District Attorney’s Office and the San Diego Police Department.
