A man was charged with theft on a Scoot flight from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore. Zhang Kun, a 51-year-old from China, denied stealing cash and a credit card during the flight. The incident happened on Monday while the flight was in the air. According to police, a passenger saw Zhang taking a bag from the overhead compartment and searching through it. The owner of the bag was away from his seat at the time. Zhang allegedly stole a credit card and about S$200 (approximately US$150) and RM100 (around US$22) from the bag. The witness watched as Zhang hid some items in his jacket before putting the bag back. After landing at Changi Airport, the witness informed the bag's owner, who then discovered the items were missing. They reported the theft to the police, who arrived shortly after. Zhang was found in the transit area and arrested by the Airport Police Division. In court, he pleaded not guilty and questioned the lack of immediate action by the flight crew. He asked for evidence to prove his guilt. Zhang stated this was his first visit to Singapore and that he would not hire a lawyer. His case will have a pre-trial conference on March 27. If found guilty, he could face up to three years in prison, fines, or both.
