A 35-year-old man from Wigan was arrested at Manchester Airport on March 24 after returning from Spain. Police had been waiting for him as part of an ongoing investigation into violent events in Southport last summer. The incident that sparked the investigation was a violent disturbance following the stabbings of three schoolgirls during a dance class. Axel Rudakubana was sentenced to life in prison for these murders and other attempted murders. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder after he allegedly threw missiles at police officers during the unrest. He has been released on bail while authorities continue their investigation. Merseyside Police reported they have made 185 arrests related to the violence, with 146 individuals charged. Detective Inspector Paula Jones warned that such behavior would not be tolerated, urging anyone involved to come forward and report themselves. Images of other individuals connected to the disorder are still being reviewed. The police are asking anyone with information to get in touch through their website or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
