Mahira Khan recalls missed opportunity with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi 15 years ago

Pakistani actress Mahira Khan revealed she was offered a role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi 15 years ago, during her early career as a VJ. The project was intended as a film but was canceled due to political tensions between India and Pakistan. Khan shared her experience of meeting Bhansali while discussing Heeramandi. She recalled being compared to actress Madhubala and expressing her desire to work with Shah Rukh Khan. However, the collaboration did not happen due to the political climate. Heeramandi has since been developed into a series, released on Netflix in May 2024. The show explores the lives of women in Lahore's red-light district during the Indian independence movement and features a diverse cast.
