Madrid land sale drives Adif to record profit

Adif, Spain's railway infrastructure manager, reported record profits of 384 million euros in 2024, primarily due to the sale of railway land in Madrid Nuevo Norte. This marks a significant turnaround from the 95 million euro loss in the previous year. The sale of the land, part of the former Chamartín operation, generated 940 million euros. Adif's profit from the sale was 646 million euros, while its high-speed rail counterpart, Adif AV, recorded a loss of 100.9 million euros, though this was an improvement. The company's revenue from its core business increased slightly, and the sale of land boosted the overall financial performance. The company had previously seen losses in some years and moderate profits in others.
