LPG leak explosion injures six in Ameerpet, Hyderabad
Six people were injured, two seriously, after an explosion caused by a gas leak at Reddy Complex in Ameerpet, Hyderabad, early Monday. The injured were taken to a local hospital, where doctors reported that the two most hurt suffered about 30% burns and were undergoing surgery. The two seriously injured individuals are Sonu Punlik, 23, and Charan, 24. The other victims are Bablu, 24; Baldeem, 25; Mallapa, 35; and Karan Shinde, 37. The explosion also caused significant damage to two shops: Crescent Cafe and Bakers and Hari Dosa, which serve a large number of customers daily. Shop owners are in disagreement over the cause of the gas leak. Mohammed Hussain, owner of Crescent Cafe and Bakers, believes the gas leak came from the adjacent shop, Hari Dosa. CCTV footage reportedly shows two workers preparing dosa when the flames broke out. There is currently no clear information on how the fire began. Sandeep Tulakaj, the owner of Hari Dosa, claimed that the explosion was powerful enough to throw furniture into the street. The blast also cracked the walls of both shops and damaged a nearby car. Residents upstairs had their windows shattered. A fire department official mentioned that they regularly remind shop owners to keep fire extinguishers on hand to prevent such incidents. Police are investigating the explosion to determine the exact cause.
