Lowe's builds tiny homes for Hurricane Helene victims in rural North Carolina
In response to Hurricane Helene's devastation in rural North Carolina, Lowe's has partnered with local organizations to build tiny homes for those affected. The initiative aims to provide temporary housing for residents like Staci Hope, who lost her home and struggled to find shelter. The project involves volunteers constructing tiny houses on wheels, which can be delivered directly to homeowners' properties. So far, 100 tiny homes are planned, with 16 completed in just one week. These homes include essential amenities and can be connected to utilities. Beloved Asheville will manage the loaning of these homes to residents in need while also assisting with repairs to damaged houses. The effort addresses the urgent housing crisis, as over 12,000 people in Western North Carolina currently lack safe housing.
