Lower Thames Crossing project approved in Kent and Essex
The UK government has approved plans for a major new road tunnel called the Lower Thames Crossing. This project will create a 14-mile (22.5 km) road connection between Kent and Essex. The road will link the A2 and M2 highways in Kent with the A13 and M25 highways in Essex. The tunnel will run under the River Thames and is expected to reduce traffic at the busy Dartford Crossing by around 20%. The project will cost approximately £8.3 billion and is set to open by 2032. Jim Dickson, a Labour MP for Dartford, welcomed the decision. He believes it will help ease the traffic problems that drivers currently face. More details about this project will be released soon.
