Louisiana woman convicted in death of Telemundo reporter covering Super Bowl in New Orleans

A Louisiana woman was convicted Thursday of negligent homicide in the death of a Telemundo reporter visiting New Orleans to cover the Super Bowl. Danette Colbert, 49, was also convicted of racketeering, while her accomplice Rickey White was acquitted of manslaughter. Colbert was the last person seen leaving the hotel room of 27-year-old Adan Manzano, who died Feb. 5 after ingesting alcohol and Xanax. Prosecutors said the pair ran a criminal enterprise targeting victims in the French Quarter, using drugs to incapacitate them and steal their cards and phones. Colbert later used Manzano's credit card at local stores. Her negligent homicide conviction carries a maximum 10-year sentence, with sentencing scheduled for late September. Manzano, a Kansas City-based anchor, left behind a toddler daughter after his wife died in a car accident a year earlier.
