Los Angeles DA meets Menendez brothers' family as they seek freedom from prison
Los Angeles County's new district attorney, Nathan Hochman, met with the Menendez brothers' family to discuss their request for freedom. The meeting lasted three hours, but Hochman did not indicate whether he would support their release. Lyle and Erik Menendez, convicted of murdering their parents in 1989, are seeking resentencing based on new evidence of their father's abuse. A judge postponed their hearing to late January to allow Hochman to review the case. Hochman is examining thousands of prison records to assess the brothers' rehabilitation. Their original defense claimed abuse, while prosecutors argued they killed for financial gain. The case has gained renewed attention recently, including a new Netflix series.
