Local high schools achieve significant sports victories
On Monday, March 24, several high school sports teams in Central Florida saw exciting action in baseball, softball, lacrosse, beach volleyball, and flag football. In baseball, notable winners included Foundation Academy, Mount Dora, and The First Academy. Foundation Academy defeated Lake Highland Prep 10-0, with Joshua Ojeda contributing a double and 2 RBIs. Mount Dora shut out Wekiva 11-0, with Jacob James hitting a triple and 2 RBIs. The First Academy won against Jupiter 11-3, featuring Luis Machado’s home run and 2 RBIs. In the softball matches, Central Florida Christian Academy (CFCA) triumphed over Jones with a score of 18-2. Jahniyah Whitted stood out with 2 RBIs from a double and a single. Windermere Prep also secured a close victory against Olympia, winning 8-6. Lacrosse teams had some strong performances as well. In boys' lacrosse, Hagerty easily defeated Winter Springs 14-1, led by Parker Mediavilla’s 6 goals. The girls' teams also saw Hagerty win 15-6 against Hill School, with Chloe Miller scoring 2 goals. In beach volleyball, Olympia beat Cypress Creek 4-1. East Ridge's girls flag football team won decisively against Leesburg 28-0, with Marissa Estrada throwing for 2 touchdowns.
