Lawyers in Dera Ghazi Khan strike over misconduct
Lawyers in Dera Ghazi Khan announced a strike for Wednesday in response to issues with Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Usman Khalid. They are protesting his misconduct and the closure of a parking area designated for lawyers. On Tuesday, a large group of lawyers gathered outside the Deputy Commissioner's office, voicing their concerns. As a result of this strike, no lawyers will appear in court today. They have also set up a sit-in outside the DC office, threatening to continue the strike until Khalid is transferred. Manzoor Qadir Khan Lund, General Secretary of the District Bar Association, criticized the DC's behavior toward both the public and lawyers. He stated that the Bar Association will stand firm in protecting their dignity and will not compromise on this issue. Former District Bar Association President Beharam Khan Buzdar added that DC Khalid had previously mistreated a senior lawyer during a court session. He believes that Khalid's lack of experience is leading to administrative problems and inconsiderate behavior. The High Court Bar Association Multan expressed strong disapproval of the Deputy Commissioner's actions. In a joint statement, its leaders affirmed their support for the Dera Ghazi Khan lawyers and stressed the importance of respect for their profession. Today, a significant protest and strike are expected at the District Courts in Dera Ghazi Khan, with many lawyers participating.
