"Last Statement" exposes Russian injustice against opposition
The human rights organization "Last Statement" is highlighting injustices against political opponents in Russia and neighboring countries by publishing their final statements from court. The organization has published 270 final statements, including those of poet Artem Kamardin, sentenced to seven years for a war-critical poem, and Vladimir Kara-Murza, sentenced to 25 years. "Last Statement" aims to preserve these words of dissent. The group also documents cases where final statements led to harsher sentences, and includes statements from the Soviet era and other former Soviet republics, emphasizing the continuity of activism.
