Lamborghini driver sentenced to two and a half years for dangerous Toronto crash

A mortgage broker, Jason Georgopoulos, has been sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison for a 2021 crash in Toronto that left his passenger with severe injuries. He was found guilty of dangerous driving after speeding nearly three times the limit. Georgopoulos was driving his $400,000 Lamborghini when he attempted to pass a streetcar, reaching speeds of 112 kilometers per hour in a 40 km/h zone. He crashed into a parked vehicle, causing life-altering injuries to his passenger, who was in a medically induced coma for 15 days. In addition to the prison sentence, Georgopoulos received a six-year driving ban. The judge emphasized the need for deterrence against reckless driving, noting the extreme disregard for public safety displayed during the incident.
