A 38-year-old man from Lafayette, Matthew Howard Cory, was arrested on March 14. He faces seven charges of sexual exploitation of a child related to distributing child sex abuse material. The investigation started after officials with the Colorado Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. They discovered the suspect might be in the Boulder County area. Detectives obtained a search warrant for Cory's home in Lafayette. With help from the Boulder County SWAT team, they searched the residence and seized electronic devices. After examining the evidence, they found enough grounds to arrest Cory. He was booked into the Boulder County Jail and is being held on a $300,000 bond. Cory's preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 7. Several local agencies assisted in the investigation, including the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and police departments from Boulder and Lafayette.
