Labour hire firm Prolink NZ enters liquidation affecting 190 migrant workers

Prolink NZ, a labour hire firm in Auckland, is going into liquidation, affecting about 190 workers, mostly migrants on work visas. The company was under investigation for migrant exploitation since September 2023, following worker complaints about unpaid wages. Licensed Insolvency Practitioner Pritesh Patel was appointed to manage the liquidation. He noted that the company lost a major contract, contributing to its financial troubles. Concerns have been raised about a recent withdrawal of $80,000 from the company's account by a director. Patel is prioritizing the payment of owed wages and holiday pay to workers. He has contacted local organizations to provide food assistance during the holiday season, as many workers face uncertainty with little work available.
