Koei Tecmo requests thousands of takedowns of Dead or Alive fan art each year

pcgamer.com

Koei Tecmo, the publisher of Dead or Alive, is actively requesting the removal of 2,000 to 3,000 pieces of fan art each year. The company believes that some of this art could harm the image of its characters, which they regard as "like daughters." At a recent panel, Koei Tecmo's legal executive mentioned that they have suspended hundreds of online doujinshi and fan art due to legal concerns. This includes works that may misrepresent the characters, especially as the company produces official merchandise. This is not the first instance of Koei Tecmo taking legal action to protect its characters. In 2021, they sued over a DVD that featured unauthorized nude mods. The next game in the series, a dating sim titled Venus Vacation Prism, will be released in select Asian markets.
