"Knock-Off" drama premiere postponed due to controversy
The premiere of the new drama "Knock-Off," starring Kim Soo-hyun and Jo Bo-ah, has been postponed due to ongoing controversy involving the late actress Kim Sae-ron. The production team announced the delay to Korean media on March 21. They stated that after careful consideration, they decided it was best to delay the release. The project had previously been on track, with plans to proceed as scheduled. However, details about the press conference and final production stages have not yet been confirmed. "Knock-Off" is set against the backdrop of the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis. It follows Kim Soo-hyun's character, Kim Sung-joon, an office worker who struggles financially. He becomes involved in the counterfeit market, eventually rising to vice president of "Saemmul Market." His ex-girlfriend, Song Hye-jeong, played by Jo Bo-ah, is a police officer investigating the counterfeit trade. Kim Soo-hyun has recently been in the news because of allegations concerning his past relationship with Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor. His agency, GoldMedalist, has faced criticism for its handling of her DUI incident in 2022, although they have denied any wrongdoing. Kim Sae-ron's family is considering legal action against him, which has raised concerns among fans domestically and internationally. Kim Soo-hyun is one of South Korea's highest-paid actors, known for his roles in popular dramas like "My Love from the Star" and "It's Okay to Not Be Okay."
