King Charles prepares for historic visit to Auschwitz to honor Holocaust survivors

King Charles has resumed his royal duties while undergoing cancer treatment. He will make a historic visit to Auschwitz on January 27 to mark the 80th anniversary of the Holocaust, a trip no British monarch has made before. The King expressed sadness over the decreasing number of Holocaust survivors, stating, “I can’t bear the dwindling number left behind.” His visit aims to honor their stories and the significance of the anniversary. Previously, Queen Camilla visited Auschwitz in 2020 for the 75th commemorations. Charles will be joined by global leaders for a remembrance ceremony at the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum and Memorial.
