Kim Sae Ron had significant hospital debt before death

A recording has emerged revealing that late actress Kim Sae Ron owed her agency a significant amount of money for hospital bills. This debt was reportedly related to treatment following a self-harm incident. The news was shared by journalist-turned-YouTuber Lee Jin Ho in a video titled “Kim Sae Ron’s Final Recording—The Heartbreaking Truth Behind Her Hospital Bills.” In it, he discussed how Kim accumulated these expenses, which her agency initially covered. Kim needed surgery after injuring her arm and mentioned in the recording that the procedure would cost about 5 million won (around 3,400 USD). Lee explained that typically, medical expenses can be much lower, but Kim’s case was unique. In South Korea, the National Health Insurance Service does not cover costs for injuries resulting from self-harm. This policy adds financial strain on individuals in similar situations, as they are left with hefty bills. Lee reflected on Kim's struggles, suggesting she may have avoided reaching out to her family due to fears of burdening them. He emphasized how her life appeared to be lonely and challenging.
