Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police salaries lag behind other provinces
Documents reveal that police salaries in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are lower than those in other provinces, particularly Balochistan. The reports show significant pay differences at various ranks within the police forces. For instance, the Inspector General (IG) of Balochistan earns Rs369,498 more each month than the IG in KP. Similarly, Superintendents of Police (SPs) in Balochistan make Rs221,196 more than their counterparts in KP. This pattern continues across different ranks, with disparities as high as Rs322,309 for Additional Inspectors General (AIGs). At the constable level, pay is slightly higher in Balochistan, with constables earning Rs69,885 compared to Rs69,127 in KP. However, some positions, like Sub-Inspectors and Inspectors, earn slightly less in Balochistan. Zulfiqar Hameed, the IG of KP, has formally requested a pay raise for police officers in his region. In his letter to Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, he emphasized the sacrifices made by the KP police in their fight against terrorism and highlighted the similar security challenges faced by their counterparts in Balochistan. He urged the government to increase salaries to reflect those in Balochistan.
