Kerala introduces AI system and elephant-proof wall to address wildlife attacks

The Kerala Forest Minister announced new measures to prevent wildlife attacks, including an artificial intelligence system to monitor animal movement. Construction of an elephant-proof wall will start by the end of February and be completed in six months. Rapid Response Teams will be increased, and temporary solar fences will be installed in select areas. The government will also provide temporary employment to one family member of victims from a recent elephant attack. In response to public outrage, the government will compensate the families of the victims with ₹20 lakh. Critics have accused the government of negligence in ensuring safety and preventing wildlife conflicts.
