Kenyan President urges UN Security Council seat for Africa

Ruto argued the UN has failed to uphold its promise, citing persistent conflicts, inconsistent application of international law, and inequality embedded in global institutions. He also demanded changes to the international financial system, stating developing countries face high financing costs while debt servicing crowds out essential services. Ruto emphasized Africa seeks a fair opportunity, not charity, and stressed that international reforms must be matched by national responsibility, including prudent debt management, stronger institutions, and tackling corruption.
