KDMC and MPCB seize 500 kg of banned plastic bags in Kalyan shop

The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) and the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) seized 500 kg of banned single-use plastic bags from a shop in Kalyan's flower market. A fine of Rs 20,000 was imposed on the shopkeeper. This operation marks a new crackdown on the use of banned plastic bags, as some traders continue to violate the regulations. KDMC and MPCB are urging the public to switch to paper or cloth bags. The joint effort was led by MPCB's Rajendra Rajput and KDMC's Atul Patil. The crackdown will continue in the future to address ongoing violations.
