Kazuki Yao announces retirement as voice of Franky in One Piece after 24 years

Kazuki Yao, the voice actor for Franky in the Japanese version of One Piece, has announced his retirement after 24 years. He shared his decision on social media, stating it was time to say goodbye to the character he helped create. Yao's departure follows health concerns that were noted earlier this year. Toei Animation has confirmed a replacement will be revealed on December 22 during Jump Festa 2025, along with a graduation ceremony for Yao. Fans have expressed their sadness over the news, as Yao's unique voice has been integral to Franky's character since the series began in 2000. The new voice will not be heard until April 2025, as the anime is currently airing a remastered version of earlier arcs.
