Karnataka bans hurling of goats and sheep at Mailapur temple fair
The Deputy Commissioner of Yadgir, B. Susheela, has banned the practice of hurling live goats and sheep during the upcoming Mailapur temple fair. This prohibition continues a long-standing order aimed at protecting animals. The fair, starting Sunday, is expected to attract thousands of devotees from Karnataka and neighboring states. Devotees traditionally threw animals at the moving palanquin during the event. Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner has prohibited the sale of liquor in the area from January 12 to January 18 to maintain order during the fair. Arrangements are being made by various government departments to ensure a smooth event.
