Karnal officials clashed with shopkeepers removing encroachments
A clash erupted in Karnal, Haryana, on Sunday between municipal officials and shopkeepers during an anti-encroachment drive, resulting in scuffles and the seizure of goods. The Karnal Municipal Corporation team removed goods from approximately 10 shopkeepers and street vendors, and issued challans for improperly parked vehicles, while also warning of future fines. The conflict arose when officials attempted to remove items placed outside shops in Karnal and Dayalpura markets. The drive aimed to clear encroachments and improve traffic flow, according to the Municipal Commissioner. The corporation also seized goods from Sunday market vendors and urged shopkeepers to comply with regulations.
