Kansas Senator Blames Ukraine War, Not Iran Conflict, for High Diesel Prices
Kansas Sen. Roger Marshall blamed Ukraine's war with Russia, not the U.S. war with Iran, for high diesel prices during Wednesday's debate, aligning with President Trump's stance. The issue threatens Republican control of Congress in the midterm elections. Marshall rejected Trump's idea of importing Russian diesel, calling it "not a great idea," but supported ending the war. Challenger Adam Hamilton sharply criticized Marshall, accusing him of selling out Ukraine, while citing diesel's average price of $6.32 a gallon, up from $3.62 last year. The debate was the final one before the Nov. 3 election in a close race. Hamilton, a pastor, proposed suspending federal fuel taxes and forcing Trump to end the Iran war, while Marshall tied Hamilton to the Green New Deal.
