Kanpur BJP chief holds meeting post-surgery in hospital

The new president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Kanpur, Anil Dixit, held a meeting in a hospital ward on Monday. This meeting took place just days after he had knee surgery. The gathering aimed to discuss events planned to celebrate the eighth anniversary of the BJP-led state government. Dixit was appointed to his position last week but fractured his knee shortly after. He underwent surgery at Vedanta Hospital in Arya Nagar. Despite doctor's orders to rest, he organized a 30-minute meeting in the hospital's patient care ward, which had a BJP banner displayed. Male party officials sat on hospital beds, while female members used nearby benches. Dixit explained that the meeting was necessary to coordinate programs scheduled until April 14. He noted that a virtual state-level meeting had been held two days prior, and this meeting was crucial for effective execution. Medical staff at the hospital expect Dixit to be discharged in two days, with a recommendation for ten days of home bed rest afterwards. They believe he should regain mobility within a month. Since his surgery, he has received many visitors, including local leaders and party workers. The unusual meeting has received attention, but the hospital has not commented publicly. The BJP's Kanpur unit is preparing for busy celebrations to showcase the government's achievements as the 2024 general elections approach. Dixit expressed optimism about his recovery and plans to quickly resume his responsibilities for local campaigns.
