Kanniyakumari district has introduced strict measures against illegal waste dumping. Collector R. Alagumeena announced that permits for vehicles transporting waste from other states will be canceled. Authorities are instructed to inspect and close unlicensed pig farms and impose fines on violators. Surveillance will be increased at check-posts, particularly in town panchayats like Kaliyal and Kadayal. Surveillance cameras have been installed at Kulithurai junction to monitor waste activities. Local bodies are urged to act quickly to remove waste and prevent illegal dumping. The Collector emphasized that biomedical, poultry, and plastic waste should not enter the district. The Tamil Nadu pollution control board will take action against violators. Local bodies must ensure proper disposal of medical waste through licensed agencies.
