Jordan Dice, a local entrepreneur, has purchased the historic Court Street Theater in Saginaw. This 378-seat movie house opened in 1938 and recently faced an uncertain future after its previous owner, Thomas Braley, passed away in June. The theater was set for an online auction later this month, but Dice reached an agreement to buy it beforehand. The venue has been closed since Braley's death and went into receivership. Dice is known for his successful business ventures, including owning the Midland Mall and the State Theatre in downtown Bay City. He has held 26 events at the State Theatre since it reopened last fall and has more scheduled. He also hosts monthly events at the mall. Dice plans to enhance the Court Street Theater by introducing a full bar and offering snacks from St. Laurent Brothers, similar to what he has done at the State Theatre. He believes this will improve the customer experience and increase event attendance. The Court Street Theater is located about a half-mile north of Saginaw's Old Town commercial district.
