John Mark Karr, once linked to JonBenét Ramsey case, now lives quietly abroad as Alex Reich

John Mark Karr, the only person arrested in the JonBenét Ramsey case, was cleared of involvement in 2006 after DNA evidence showed he was not connected to the crime. Karr had claimed he was with the 6-year-old when she died. After the case against him was dropped, Karr faced child pornography charges in California, which were also dismissed. He reportedly underwent sex reassignment surgery and now lives as Alex Reich, maintaining a low profile outside the U.S. As of May 2024, Karr stated he is living a "covert life" and has no plans to return to the U.S. He denied claims of stalking the Ramsey family and has avoided contact with media since his arrest.
